One person is dead and two more people were hospitalized after a Saturday afternoon motorcycle crash in Worcester County, according to Maryland State Police.
Troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded shortly after 4:30 p.m. to the intersection of Route 50 and Route 610 for a report of a crash involving two motorcycles.
Police said a 2011 Harley Davidson driven by 47-year-old Brian P. Riley of Altoona, Pennsylvania, crashed into a 2002 Harley Davidson being ridden by a driver and passenger.
A Maryland State Police helicopter transported the passenger on Riley’s motorcycle, identified as 49-year-old Lorrie J. Buoymaster of Altoona, to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where she died Sunday, according to police.
The 2002 Harley’s driver was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, while Delaware Aviation took the passenger to Christiana Hospital in Newark.
Police said Riley was initially taken into custody at the scene, but was later released. The Maryland State Police Crash team is conducting the investigation, and the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office is being consulted on possible charges.
