One person is dead after a Tuesday morning crash involving an EMS vehicle on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
Troopers responded to the crash on Route 13 at Route 606 in Northampton County at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday.
Virginia State Police said one of the vehicles involved, a 2018 Northampton County EMS Chevrolet Tahoe, had its lights and sirens activated while heading to the scene of an incident on Route 13.
The Tahoe hit a 1999 Toyota Corolla that crossed the EMS vehicle’s path while heading east on Route 606. Police said the Corolla driver, 72-year-old Wayne B. Gerringer of Franktown, died on impact.
The Tahoe driver, Scott Jones, was taken to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
The Virginia State Police Reconstruction Team is assisting in the investigation, which is still ongoing.
