A Cape Charles man died in a Wednesday morning moped crash in Northampton County, according to Virginia State Police.
The incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. in the 28200 block of Route 13 north of Route 646 in Northampton County. Virginia State Police received several calls at that time reporting a vehicle on fire and what appeared to be a motorcycle in the median.

An investigation of the crash scene revealed 49-year-old Kevin Turner of Cape Charles lost control of the moped he’d been driving and overcorrected, police said.
The incident caused him to be ejected from the moped, landing in the median, where he died on impact. Police said Turner did not have a helmet on at the time.
The moped was still in the road when a tractor-trailer, passenger vehicle and pickup truck struck it. Police said the pickup truck then caught fire.
The southbound lanes of Route 13 were closed while troopers investigated, with the Virginia Department of Transportation rerouting traffic in the area.
