A former Princess Anne town manager accused of stealing more than $100,000 from the town was found guilty by a jury Wednesday of theft.

The Somerset County State’s Attorney’s Office said an investigation began in January 2020 into cash missing from an envelope at the Princess Anne town hall. That inquiry led to the discovery that no cash had been deposited into the town’s account in December 2019.

A forensic accounting examination for January 2018 through January 2020 revealed that $100,748.93 in cash received at town hall had not been deposited into the town’s operating account, according to prosecutors.

The investigation determined that Deborah Hrusko, Princess Anne’s town manager at the time, had been responsible for handling the town’s deposits. Prosecutors said more than $43,765 in cash had been deposited into Hrusko’s personal account in 2019.
