Maryland State Police arrested a Wicomico County man Friday in connection with the sexual abuse of a child.
The Fruitland man Jamie Predeoux, 50, was charged with second-degree assault, sex offense in the second and third degree, sex abuse of a minor and sex abuse of a minor continuing course of conduct.
A 25-year-old woman reported Sept. 27 to investigators that she had been sexually assaulted from ages 8 through 13 during the period from 2004 to 2009 in Somerset County.
Investigators then obtained an arrest warrant for Predeoux on Friday, and police found him at his home where he was arrested without incident.
Predeoux works as a correctional officer at Eastern Correctional Institution, and police said staff at the correctional institution were made aware of the investigation and Predeoux’s arrest.
Predeoux was taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center, where he was being held without bond pending an initial court appearance, police said Saturday.
