KEC83 Broadcast Cycle

by DrewLUD

I know I already have a video featuring KEC83’s broadcast cycle. This video, among others, is going to be replacing those older videos, reason being that I’d like to make updated versions in this newer format.

KEC83 is the second flagship station of the National Weather Service in Sterling, Virginia. Broadcasting on a power of 1000 watts from a tower in Pikesville, this is one of those stations that I *just barely* get. Air traffic unfortunately, and rather often between 3-7PM, will reflect WXM57 onto my antenna, interrupting this station.

This station was the reason I bought a J-Pole antenna. Its position in my attic was determined by where it’d best receive KEC83.

KEC83 is an interesting station, being that it can receive alerts from a number of different WFOs! The station can receive alerts from State College, Sterling, and Mount Holly. It’s also Sterling’s only station to feature heavy compression.
