Motorcycle crashes on Route 50 in Pittsville; driver dies on scene

A fatal Monday night motorcycle crash in Pittsville is under investigation, according to Maryland State Police.

Troopers responded to Route 50 at Main Street in Pittsville at 11:11 p.m. for a report of a fatal crash involving a motorcycle.

Police said the investigation revealed a 1999 Suzuki being driven by a 29-year-old Salisbury man was heading west on Route 50 when another vehicle going north on Main Street crossed the motorcycle’s path.

The motorcycle hit the back of the other vehicle, causing the driver to be ejected. The motorcycle driver died on scene, according to police.

A Maryland State Police reconstructionist responded to to conduct the investigation, which is still ongoing. Police had not released the name of the motorcycle driver who died as of a Tuesday morning news release.
