The gloves came off in the first televised debate between Gov. Phil Murphy and his GOP challenger Jack Ciattarelli. The two clashed last night on virtually every issue, from the COVID-19 pandemic to taxes and the response to Tropical Storm Ida.

Wednesday, officials announced 1,608 positive cases and 20 new deaths. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 1,001,635 cases in the state and 27,400 confirmed and probable deaths.
