The St. Francis Yacht Club’s Wednesday Yachting Luncheon, hosted by Ron Young, presents: Learning to Fly – Ellison’s Wild 115ft Tech Marvel Winner of AC33

Author Roger Vaughan graduated from Brown University, where he was a member of the sailing team. As a writer for LIFE magazine in the 1960s, he covered culturally historic touchstones, including Woodstock, the Monterey Pop Festival, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, experimental education and “San Francisco’s Summer of Love”. His decades of sailing coverage include the America’s Cup and the Olympic games, in print and for ESPN. He co-wrote the story for the movie WIND, with St. Francis Yacht Club Staff Commodore Kimball Livingston, and published 20 books. From his home on a river in Oxford, Maryland, a short sail from the Chesapeake Bay, Roger will preview his latest book, “Learning to Fly”, about the 2010 America’s Cup.
