Salisbury man charged with murder in deadly weekend shooting

SALISBURY, Md.— One man faces murder and related charges after a fatal shooting in a Salisbury neighborhood. 

Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of a shooting near the 1200 block of Pocahontas Avenue on Saturday, April 24, according to a news release from the department. 

Deputies arrived to find Jerome Moss laying in the front yard, suffering with multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses told law enforcement Clifton Jones shot Moss, who was later pronounced dead after being rushed to TidalHealth Peninsular Regional Hospital, according to the release.

An investigation showed the victim was among others at the residence when the 44-year-old suspect shot him multiple times, according to law enforcement. The gun was then wrestled away from Jones, the release states, and he was held until deputies arrived. 

Jones was found inside the residence and taken into custody.

A search warrant was executed as the Criminal Investigation Division assumed the investigation, and detectives recovered the suspected murder weapon. The investigation remains ongoing. 

Jones is currently being held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center,  the release states, facing charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault in the first degree and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
