Police said a Salisbury man faces first- and second-degree assault charges after threatening someone with a gun during an argument.

The incident occurred Saturday, Aug. 28. Officers responded to a home in the 400 block of Hammond Street in Salisbury around 2:30 p.m. for a report of an assault with a firearm, according to a news release.

They met with a 24-year-old woman who told them she had been in an argument with a male acquaintance who knocked on her door. The woman said the man returned to his vehicle, according to police, but the disagreement continued.

The woman told officers the man pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at her and threatened to shoot her. Police said he then left the area in his vehicle.
