School board approves Virtual Academy for Anne Arundel; families can apply by June 10

Board President Melissa Ellis, a mother whose family has participated in home-schooling, said families want to meet and connect in-person — her children were on stages and fields. But officials said regulations prevent students from participating in clubs and sports at schools where they are not enrolled, in this case, the virtual academy. Virtual extracurriculars including esports, creative writing, robotics and more are planned for the academy.
