A Seaford man died Monday night after being hit by a vehicle on Route 113 in Dagsboro.
Delaware State Police said the accident happened at about 10 p.m. on May 31 south of Molly Field Road.
Police said the 21-year-old victim had parked his vehicle on the southbound shoulder of Route 113 (DuPont Boulevard) and was in the left travel lane of the highway when he was struck by a Honda Accord traveling southbound.
He was wearing dark-colored clothing and was not using a light, and the Honda’s driver was unable to see him on the road, according to the police. The victim was taken by helicopter to Christiana Hospital and was pronounced dead there. His identity has not been released pending notification to next of kin.
The driver of the Honda, a 31-year-old Frankford resident, stopped just south of the scene of collision. He and his 5-year-old passenger were not injured.
Route 113 was closed for approximately 3 hours as the scene was cleared.
