A car carrying three teens crashed on Route 113 in Millsboro late Tuesday, leaving one dead and two injured, according to Delaware State Police.
A 2005 Infiniti G35 sedan being driven by a 16-year-old from Millsboro was traveling south on Route 113, north of Delaware Avenue, police said, when the driver lost control for an unknown reason.
The car spun out and exited the road on the eastern side, striking several fence posts and a curb before overturning, going airborne and striking the steel Atlantis Homes signpost before coming to a rest, according to police.
A 16-year-old front-seat passenger from Millsboro was not properly restrained and pronounced deceased at the scene, police said. They will be identified publicly after notification of next of kin.
A 17-year-old backseat passenger from Milford was also not properly restrained, police said. They were admitted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, who was properly restrained, according to police, was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and released.
Route 113 in the area of the crash was closed for over three hours while the investigation was completed and the road cleared.
