Wicomico County COVID cases increased by 295 this week

Maryland reported 8,445 new cases of coronavirus in the week ending Sunday, down 3% from the previous week . Then, 8,707 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19 were reported.

Maryland ranked 48th among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows.

In the latest week, coronavirus cases in the United States decreased 10.3% from the week before, with 751,187 cases reported. With 1.82% of the country’s population, Maryland had 1.12% of the country’s cases in the last week. Across the country, 14 states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.

Wicomico County reported 295 cases and four deaths in the latest week. A week earlier, it had reported 342 cases and four deaths. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 10,352 cases and 205 deaths.

Free Covid-19 testing was held at the 80th National Folk Festival Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, downtown in Salisbury, Maryland.

Worcester County reported 105 cases and zero deaths in the latest week. A week earlier, it had reported 94 cases and two deaths. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 4,713 cases and 113 deaths.

Somerset County reported 65 cases and one death in the latest week. A week earlier, it had reported 72 cases and zero deaths. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 3,149 cases and 47 deaths.
