Wicomico County COVID cases increased by 325 this week

Maryland reported 8,052 new cases of coronavirus in the week ending Sunday, from 8,014 the week before of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Maryland ranked 49th among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. In the latest week, coronavirus cases in the United States increased 5.2% from the week before, with 1,146,098 cases reported.

With 1.82% of the country’s population, Maryland had 0.7% of the country’s cases in the last week. Across the country, 44 states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.

Wicomico County reported 325 cases and three deaths in the latest week. A week earlier, it had reported 256 cases and two deaths. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 9,076 cases and 186 deaths.

Worcester County reported 135 cases and one death in the latest week. A week earlier, it had reported 118 cases and zero deaths. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 4,310 cases and 109 deaths.
